Famous for its tree topped city walls, originally built in the 16th century and to this day still in perfect condition; it is best visited on foot or by bicycle. The
historical centre is close off to traffic, and therefore very pleasant for a leisurely stroll or cycle. Lucca was renowned internationally during the Renaissance period for the producing of silk garments.
